We slept well for a month, although the first night had me counting gunshots (the fiesta was in full swing) and we had never experienced fireworks in the middle of the night. I should have known wen the church bells rang and the band played. Climbing your mountain is a must. I never made it to the top, but the cross and shrine are reachable. Phyllis and Georg,

Every year when we return to winter in New England, we think of you here with sunshine, flowers, art, great views of the lake and the mountains, the song of birds and the comforting echoes of daily life: celebrations in the neighborhoods of Jocotepec. Yesterday Peter and I saw a man walking his pig on a leash! Every venture into town brings fun surprises and the chance to enjoy at each return to Los Dos B and B the garden unfolding like a greeting card, congratulating us for our stamina climbing that steep last 20 yards to the gate. This holiday is extra special because our friends Scott, Mary Ann Kate and Kelly were able to join us and experience this place they've been hearing about for so many years. Also special because Peter painted watercolors from our balcony to capture these beautiful vistas. Thank you for your kindness to Peter and me, my parents and our friends. We've truly are blessed to be able to spend time with you in this wonderful pace, Catherine Waldron and Peter.

Having found your site on the Internet, Barbara and I came from the ice and snow of Ottawa to faraway Jocotepec not knowing exactly what we would find. We found very comfortable accommodations in the Deluxe Casita. It was beyond our expectations. But more, we found hospitality and a genuinely warm reception. Most of all, we found new friends-not only you two but also the other guests whom we mete during our stay. We think that we have discovered one of North American's best-kept vacations secrets, Los Dos at Jocotepec.

As for the art lessons, Barbara and I spent many happy hours working in the studio with Georg. We were both amazed with his open willingness to share with us his lifetime of art expertise. It was an experience we will never forget. Tom and Barbara.

To come from far off England, we hoped for peaceful and unexpected experiences. We were not disappointed! A lovely and comfortable residence, a breakfast that matched anything England can do, afternoon tea with biscuits (cookies to some). But the real gem of our visit has been the friendship and delightful tales and stories emanating from Phyllis and Georg. We shall have so much to tell our friends back home. Perhaps they'll be encouraged to follow in our pioneering footsteps. Our Spanish group will be "forced" to translate your brochure, word for word. I should have known when the church bells rang and the band played. We did all the sights including seeing the Volcano de Colima mini-erupt twice. WE thought the Tequila Express was great fun. Climbing your mountain is a must. I never made it to the top, but the top and shrine are reachable. Now we are off to Oahu. Also a very beautiful place but a much busier experience. Certainly not as laid back as this part of Mexico. Our accommodations were just right. The spaciousness and solid fixtures are a perfect fit at Los Dos. We very much enjoyed our visit to Los Dos Jocotepec and the Lake Chapala area. Our first trip and certainly not the last. Our walks up the mountain and to the town square were energizing for a couple of folks who spent most of the winter holing up in Wisconsin. You Phyllis and Georg certainly created a wonderful and relaxing place with great accommodations, beautiful art and grounds. Just what a couple of innkeepers needed to recharge our batteries. I know it's been difficult with the recent loss of your husband and life partner, but what memories the two of you created. Even though we never met George in this life, we feel we have, through the reading of his book, The Jew with the Iron Cross. How the human s spirit triumphs over hardship – the kind most of us never experience – and reawakens to a creative and spiritual existence so obvious in h is art. Thanks for your hospitality and sharing your home with us. Also enjoyed meeting and talking with our fellow guests – interesting people all. We’ve just returned from our 6th visit to Los Dos over the past 11 years.

It is hard to say what draws us back to this little Paradise every 2nd year;

The breathtaking setting overlooking Lake Chapala,

The hospitality of our hostess Phyllis Rauch,

The efficiency and helpfulness of her staff Rita, Maria and Manuel, who keep the grounds and facilities in immaculate condition,

Or the cutest and most lovable collection of cats and dogs we’ve ever encountered.

Even though we missed Georg Rauch, who passed away last year, we constantly felt his presence by looking at his great paintings that are decorating every room and by visiting his studio that is kept the way it was when he was still alive.

We sure hope to return many more times; Los Dos is very special to us.
